Congratulations to SBHS junior and CSAcademy student, Leah Makler! She was selected as a 2017 National Honorable Mention recipient of the NCWIT’s Award for Aspirations in Computing. Aspirations in Computing, an initiative of the National Center for Women & IT (NCWIT) is the only national level talent development program for young women in computing and information technology. Leah is among only 350 National Honorable Mention Award recipients in the nation. SBHS and the Computer Science Academy congratulate her on her accomplishment!
On January 4th, Dr. Bryce Boe and Sébastien Cuendet, Senior Software Engineers from Appfolio visited the CSA’s Mobile Programming class. After teaching Python programming basics, they challenged the students to work together to solve online puzzles at pythonchallenge.com. This experience not only broadened the students’ exposure to Python and Regular Expressions, but it also encouraged critical thinking, problem solving, and teamwork. Dr. Boe plans to visit Mr. Muhl’s class on a monthly basis to continue challenging and inspiring our students!
