SBHS CS Academy Hackathon 2017
What is a hackathon?
A hackathon is an event that provides an opportunity for participants to form teams and work together to create an awesome computer science project.
Who may participate?
Students at Santa Barbara High School, San Marcos, or Dos Pueblos who have taken or are currently enrolled in Exploring Computer Science, Computational Art, AP CS, or Mobile Programming. You must confirm your eligibility with your computer science teacher before you register.
Do I need to have a project idea to participate?
No. There will be mentors with project ideas who will help form teams and then work with their team to create the project. If you do have a project idea, be ready to share it and form a team to create it! (You can still get help from a mentor if you form a team to work on your own idea.)
Where will the hackathon take place?
The hackathon will be held in the SBHS Computer Science Academy building. When you enter SBHS from Anapamu Street, stay to the left and follow signs to the CS Academy. Parking will be limited, so please carpool or have someone drop you off.
When is the hackathon?
The hackathon will take place on Saturday, April 8, 2017. Check in starts at 6:30 AM and the hackathon will start promptly at 7:00 AM. The hackathon will end at 8:00 PM.
Will food be provided?
We will provide snacks and a pizza dinner, but you should bring your own lunch.
Do I need to bring my own computer and charger?
No. You may bring your own if you would like to, but our Mac and PC labs will be available for use as well.
What languages can we program in?
You may program in any language as long as all members of your group are able to participate using the language your group chooses.
