SBHS CS Academy students Harrison deBoer, Talia Trambert, Charlotte Wall, and Cooper Umoff have organized two one-week camps for junior high students this summer. The camps are open to students entering 7th, 8th and 9th grades and offered from 9am – noon, M-F June 27-July 1 and July 4-July 8. Campers will learn how to program in “Scratch”, an easy-to-use program developed at MIT and perfect for beginner programmers. The sessions are designed to be a fun introduction to programming, with students learning to create their own games on the first day. Includes snacks and fun ultimate frisbee breaks. The camp advisor is UCSB Computer Science instructor Cetin Koç. Cost is $125

CS Academy students Anna Brewer and Maria deAngelis founded and developed a very successful Dream It Code It summer camps for girls entering 6th –8th grade. This camp had been held at SBHS the past two years and taught middle school girls the basics of computer science using Scratch (an interactive, beginner-friendly programming language) and fun CS games and activities. No prior programming experience required! Payment information will be sent after camp is filled.
